The Browser Phone

Your browser is a softphone. No hardware needed — just a microphone and Chrome.

The Browser Phone

You don't need a desk phone. Your browser is one.

Set it up

Every user gets a browser endpoint auto-provisioned the first time they open Phones. To make calls you need a microphone and Chrome (Safari and Firefox work; Chrome is best-tested).

First call

  1. Grant microphone permission when prompted.
  2. Click the dialer in the top-right or open Line and use the home dialer.
  3. The browser becomes a softphone for inbound and outbound calls.

Headset, please

Built-in laptop mics work — barely. A USB headset cuts echo, improves transcription accuracy, and keeps the AI from picking up your dog.

If a call doesn't ring

Browser tab in the background? Modern Chrome throttles. We surface incoming calls as a system notification — click it to bring the tab forward. Notifications blocked? Re-enable them in your browser settings.
